House 4 - Milnsbridge
4 - Milnsbridge Huddersfield - 60,000, went on market evening before for 65,000. Next day 9.am I was on the phone arranging a viewing by 9.30 it was viewed and sold stc! No time for prattin about and dawdlin.
Nice little end terraced - rear facing 2 bed back to back. Milnsbridge is not everyone's cup of tea in fact many would say it's a shit hole. Ok so it's no Holmfirth but it's still a popular place to live for plenty of other people. Supermarket, shops, bank, postoffice, pubs good access to the town and beyond - all very affordable. Armitage Road is the best street of all - in fact walking along the road you could be mistaken for being in a completely different neighbourhood.
The old dear Mabel who lived here before really looked after the place, it was spotless and in very good condition - just needed modernising here and there and redecorating. Unfortunately the modernising went a bit further 2 weeks before finishing as a burst pipe fitting (push fit) under the bath caused lots of damage, delays and more expense so there was a lot more decorating and plastering to do - Always turn the water off on your way out! There was no garden with this house - that bit of green you can see at the front used to be a lane for access. Over time everyone along the terrace claimed the bit in front of their house as their own - except mine where the ones behind me had it on their deeds as belonging to them. I did try to buy the piece of land , the agreement was for £1,000 and i pay the legal fees for which was quoted £350 from each party.
The trouble was the vendors then took it upon themselves to have a 15 page contract of stipulations drawn up of what I could and could not do with the land which meant their bill was now up to £2000 and rising so i pulled out and just sold it without the garden (and leaving the greedy bastards from behind with a hefty bill to pay their own solicitor)
